JotterPad Workflow Overview

The overall process for creating and editing a text file with JotterPad is described below. You don’t have to do every step, and you might do others that aren’t Section Content listed. The workflow isn’t necessarily linear.

Step 1: Import Files


You can import text files into your local storage or cloud. JotterPad Android, iOS, Mac and Web supports UTF-8 encoding, .md, .txt, .markdown and .fountain file extensions.

In JotterPad Android, tap the + floating action button to import a file.
In JotterPad iOS, tap the … icon to import a file.
In JotterPad Mac, in the Start Screen > Click Open Document to import a file.
In JotterPad Web, in your Local directory > Click + New > Import to import a file.

Step 2: Organise Text Files


In JotterPad Android, iOS, Mac and Web, you can move text files to another folder found in Local or Cloud storage. You can also create folders to organise the text files to the way that you prefer.

Step 3: Create & Edit Texts


In JotterPad Android, tap the + floating action button to create a new text file. To edit an existing text file, simply tap on the file.
In JotterPad iOS, tap the + button to create a text, Markdown or Fountain file. To edit an existing text file, simply tap on the file.
In JotterPad Mac, in the Start Screen > Click New Document to create a new markdown or fountain document​. To edit an existing text file, simply click on the existing document shown in Recent and open to edit the existing text file.
In JotterPad Web, in the Start Screen > Click New Document to create a new text, markdown or fountain document​​. To edit an existing text file, simply click on the text file.

Step 4: Share & Export your Writing


When your writing is finished, you can export the text file to multiple formats such as .docx and print your text to PDF. For Fountain file, the script will be formatted to industrial screenwriting format before printing to PDF.
